The hike starts through an area of mixed pinyon pine and juniper, mostly sandy underfoot with small areas of slick rock.
There are good views across to West Temple and the peaks of Zion 25 miles away.
After crossing a sand dune the flat drops away to an area of slick rock. This is the view looking south over Washington and St. George, hidden in the valley, to the Arizona Strip.
Another view southwest over St. George towards Blakes Lambing Grounds.
Looking east across more slick rock. Hiking round to the tree-covered ridge leads to another area with humps and pinnacles...
...and a distant view to Zion.
This area of slick rock contains some of the most spectacular formations in the district.
Zooming in on the humps.
Richard climbed the left-hand hump...
...which overlooks more sandstone domes...
...zooming a little closer...
...and on the large dome.
